LOCATION

Our excellent location is just one reason the quality of life in Moore County is so exceptional. Moore County is located in the heart of North Carolina. It lies halfway between New York and Florida and halfway between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Coast of Carolina. The Research Triangle Park is approximately 70 minutes to the north, and Charlotte is less than two hours to the west. Fayetteville is a comfortable 30 to 40 minute drive to the east.

Drive 150 miles to the east to enjoy the coastal beaches...just about 3 hours to reach Myrtle Beach or Wrightsville Beach outside of Wilmington. You may also opt to head west for 250 miles and a four hour (or slightly more) drive to Asheville, home of Biltmore Estate, and Smoky Mountain resorts for skiing in the winter and other recreational activities in the summer.

CLIMATE AND WEATHER

The Sandhills has a year-round climate that is milder and drier than the surrounding areas of North Carolina as the result of a unique combination of sandy soil, its elevation (600 feet above sea level), and its protection from the plains by the Appalachian Mountains. Our average temperature is 50 degrees, average humidity is 50%, and average rainfall is 50 inches per year. This area has a special longleaf pine ecosystem that features year-round color in dogwoods, azaleas, camellias, and hollies.
